Clean with the right techniques to maintain, restore, preserve and improve the identity is very simple and not too much of your time. In fact, because the identity is a low maintenance kind of wood, you only need one round of cleaning your teak furniture (outside, not inside the room once a year).

Teak can be strong, but they are not immune to the erosion surface, discoloration, mildew, graying, roughness or cracking. Ecological conditions under which your identity will be a factor in the maintenance of your furniture.

If you want to extend the life of your teak furniture, it is important to understand how the care and maintenance of your wood properly. Here are some cleaning tips that you should help in the maintenance program.

How do I clean teak furniture (and teak) on boats
First, you should wash well to teak furniture, dirt and debris. You'll find special cleaning teak in your local store, or you can even use a strong detergent. I have used all kinds of teak cleaner, and have spent a lot of time scrubbing the teak with special brushes and pads. The cheapest and easiest way I found to clean teak is to use a product called TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) to. This dry product that you receive, can, in most home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot.

If you are using the TSP, you will be a bucket, brush, need, and perhaps some rubber gloves. The TSP will be mixed with water, so you really need anything else. I've cleaned up so much that my identity can easily measure the amount of TSP added to water) (depending on the severity of the cleaning job. When you begin, you should follow the instructions on the box in the determination of TSP per gallon of water, and perhaps experiment on a small area of your wood. Frankly, I never had a problem with the TSP, so I do not think that you have a lot of problems. Of course, always follow the label directions when using chemicals.

If you have a very teak weather, or cracks in the woods, you need to clean several times to remove dirt. With a stiff brush hair is always easier to work. I certainly do not recommend that with a wire brush, because they do not damage the wood. If the teak on the boat clean, you want to also take care not to scratch the hull.

If your timber, leave it completely before proceeding be dry cleaned. After drying, it is very easy to see whether it requires areas that may require additional cleaning. You want to handle safely, before you commit to continuing these areas. Some suggest waiting a few days (or) even weeks, before continuing, but I could not resist finish the job when it is in my head (and was) on the program, so I can not really afford a long recommended waiting period. While the identity is completely dry, you have no problem with the next steps.

Apply teak oil or teak sealer
After cleaning teak furniture to your satisfaction, the next thing you should do to use teak sealer, teak, or perhaps oil. There are a variety of special teak wood finishing products on the market, so you can find the best solution for your timber. If you are not sure about the brand used, you can be an expert in home improvement stores, furniture stores, store, or ask the boat.

Make sure to dry completely over teak furniture, before you try to apply the sealant or teak oil on it. If this fails, leads to the occurrence of acne, which is not balanced on your teak furniture after you apply the sealant. Also, if the humidity sealing is not very good and will not survive.

You can choose from teak sealant with a plastic spray bottle, foam brush or rag so easy. The choice is yours, and depending on the environment in which you work. If you are in a boat, you will not want a spray bottle to use the seal in order to dissolve the stomach.

In fact, it did not take on too much difference in the type of media you use as long as you a few guidelines how to seal. You have several layers of teak sealant. For the first layer, applied literally everywhere freely on your teak furniture. Most sealants identity on the market today is not at all sticky, so freely apply and then wipe any access with a dry cloth. Do with the first layer, you do not need too much about how you give care to apply teak sealant, sealant is set and dry for about 1 to 3 hours.

The second layer of teak sealant must be applied on the same day, so that after a few hours, a second layer. If you look professional and well, apply with a soft, even strokes. And must be in a few hours, teak sealer completely dry to the touch and ready for use. 2 coats of sealer you need to keep the teak furniture in excellent condition.

Some people choose to the finish to apply their newly cleaned teak. Lacquer will provide great protection, and of course, easy to maintain. We will provide further information about this type of surface, in a later article.

Enjoy the beautiful teak.
